Creating New Futures

Our main location, St. Francis House, can provide emergency shelter for up to 9 families at a time, which is generally 40 – 45 people each night. While residing at the shelter, guests receive three meals a day, are assigned an individualized case plan to follow, have access to our laundry room, can use the client phone, etc.

Shelter residents work with a case manager to develop individualized case plans to address their immediate needs and help them obtain housing and self-sufficiency.

NOTICE

As we are primarily a shelter for families with children, all clients and guests must have a current “blue card” (a police clearance card from Gainesville Police Department) before receiving any services from our facility.

Obtaining a blue card is a FAST & FREE process to be completed at the Gainesville Police Department, located: 545 NW 8th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601

St. Francis House provides shelter to single women and families with children experiencing homelessness*. Please contact one of our shelter case managers for room availability and assistance. Client’s and shelter resident’s designated Case Manager and/or Director of Shelter Services will assist in completing or obtaining required documentation.

Case manager business hours and contact information are listed below. However, other times may be scheduled with the below listed staff in order to meet client needs. Clients may leave a message outside of general operating hours and a team member will reach out to schedule a convenient time for the client.

* Within the homeless definition, there are four categories of homelessness:
Literally Homeless, Imminent Risk of Homelessness, Homeless Under Other Federal Statutes, and Fleeing/Attempting to Flee Domestic Violence
